Festival in short details


The Caravans (travelers along the Great Silk Road) had rested around the well Kheivak
which is located in Khiva town.  Apart from other cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara, if  life 
in Khiva. has been preserved its lots of nativeness.

 

Since 2005 year every year Cultural Festival of Ancient Khorezm is
beeing celebrated. This Cultural Festival is an important reminder that, although chiefly 
known as an ecological disaster zone today, for thousands of years the Khorezm and 
Karakalpakstan regions of Uzbekistan were the seat of a great and vast empire that has left
behind countless sites of immense cultural value. These sites of anсient Khorezm - along
with cultural attractions such as Ichan Kala - museum in the open air, as well as very strong
local cultural traditions of folklore and performing arts - these sites and expressions are
invaluable cultural assets. The main goal of this festival is to attract more tourists to this
region.

Within the program framework of the festival the followings takes place:

 

  • Performance of national traditions and ceremony of Khorezm
     
  • National and traditional games, such as "kurash" national style of wrestling, ram's fighting, cock-fighting and so on.
     
  • Exhibition of handicraftsmen of Khorezm, Karakalpakstan and other regions of Uzbekistan.
     
  • School of «Masters and students», within the framework visitors could have a chance of learning from old masters and get certificates.
     
  • Artist's exhibition.
     
  • Information bulletine on modern Uzbekistan
     
  • Performance of folklore group.
     
  • Show of national clothes of Khorezm, Karakalpakstan and other regions of Uzbekistan.
     
  • Organizing oriental market.
